Are you immediately available and looking for your next opportunity within the NHS? Do you have previous GP surgery experience and a strong working knowledge of EMIS?

We're recruiting on behalf of a friendly and welcoming GP Practice in South Shields and the surrounding areas, seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join their busy team on a full-time, ongoing temporary basis.

There is also the potential for a permanent position following a successful trial period.

This is a busy, call centre-style reception role, so you'll need to be confident handling a high volume of patient calls while delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Managing a high volume of incoming patient calls professionally and efficiently
  • Greeting patients and visitors with a warm and friendly approach
  • Booking, amending and managing GP appointments
  • Responding to patient enquiries by phone and email
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records
  • Processing patient registrations and relevant documentation
  • Supporting the practice with general administrative duties, including scanning, filing and data entry
  • Working closely with clinicians and the wider practice team to ensure the smooth running of the surgery
  • Previous experience working within an NHS GP Surgery
  • Essential: Working knowledge of EMIS
  • Experience in a busy reception or high-volume call handling environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Good IT skills and experience using electronic patient record systems
  • A professional, reliable and proactive approach to work
  • Immediate start available
  • Competitive hourly rate of 14.24 - 14.68
  • Full-time hours (37.5 hours per week)
