Birtley Medical Group are seeking a friendly, well-organised Medical Receptionist to join our team on a 27 hr per week fixed term contract.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a patient-facing healthcare role and be committed to delivering excellent customer service.
Strong communication, IT, and administrative skills are essential.
Experience in General Practice and knowledge of EMIS Web are preferred but not essential.
You must be able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

- Wednesday
- Provide efficient and effective reception and clerical support to the Practice
- Book patients into the computerised appointment system
- Issue repeat or pre-arranged prescriptions, sick notes, and completed medical reports
- Collect fees for non-NHS services
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Deliver a high standard of customer care
• To provide administrative duties including but not limited to
- Processing patient registrations
- Scanning and Read Coding incoming correspondence
- Navigating software systems to identify results and support audit trails
- Respond to telephone enquiries, faxes and emails promptly,
- Action outgoing/incoming calls to patients, hospital staff etc.
• To provide Receptionist duties including but not limited to
- Booking in patients on the computerised appointments system
- Issuing (repeat or pre-arranged) prescriptions, sick notes, or completed medical reports
- Collecting fees for non-NHS work
- Answering all incoming calls in an efficient helpful manner, directing calls to the appropriate extension quickly and effectively
- Dealing with hospital letters, reports, test results etc, according to protocol
- Arranging home visits and arrange appropriate administration i. e. Notes summary, if required
