Job Title: Senior Authorised Person (SAP)
Location: Walsall covering Across Severn Trent Region
Salary: Up to £70,000 plus car/allowance and benefits
Are you an experienced electrical professional with a passion for safety, compliance, and engineering excellence? Join Severn Trent as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the electrical safety of our critical water infrastructure.
As a SAP at Severn Trent, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of high- and low-voltage electrical systems. You will lead electrical safety procedures, including issuing permits, managing isolations, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations—especially in DSEAR environments.
What’s The Role

  • Acting as the Senior Authorised Person under Severn Trent’s Electrical Safety Rules
  • Managing electrical safety documentation (e.g. permits to work, isolation certificates)
  • Supervising HV/LV switching, isolations, and energisations
  • Leading engineering teams during installations and maintenance
  • Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safe systems of work
  • Liaising with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with DSEAR, BS7671, and Electricity at Work Regulations
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to continuous improvement
What You Will Need
  • A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience in the water industry or similar industrial environments
  • Formal training and certification as a Senior Authorised Person (LV/HV)
  • AP12 Accreditation (essential)
  • STW SAP Approval (essential)
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant electrical safety regulations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
