We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Lecturer in A-Level Economics to join the CSM A-Levels team at Sandwell College. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about teaching economics and business studies to provide students with a challenging and engaging learning experience within a further education environment.

Working closely with the Head of Section and colleagues, you will deliver high-quality teaching across A-Level Economics, inspiring students to develop strong analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills. You will support students’ progression to higher education, apprenticeships, or careers in business, finance, government, and related sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver A-Level Economics lessons, ensuring engaging and inclusive teaching practices
  • Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments, maximising academic outcomes
  • Participate in curriculum development and planning, contributing to continuous improvement in teaching and learning
  • Support students through personal tutoring and mentoring, fostering a positive learning environment
  • Develop and use learning materials and multimedia resources to enhance student engagement
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the delivery of BTEC Level 3 Business Studies

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree in Economics or a related discipline
  • Recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Experience of delivering A-Level Economics and/or business qualifications
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and adapt teaching methods to diverse needs
  • Competent in the use of Information Learning Technology (ILT) to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of current economic developments and ability to relate theory to real-world contexts

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • Certificate in Education
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject

If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
