Our Technology faculty is well-resourced, collaborative and ambitious—offering Design & Technology, Food, Product Design and Construction pathways that prepare students with practical skills, creativity, and industry awareness.
The Role
We are seeking an inspiring Technology Teacher who can confidently teach across the full range of Technology disciplines—Design & Technology, Food, Design, and especially Construction—at Key Stages 3–4. You’ll bring subject passion, practical expertise and a commitment to high standards in both theory and hands-on learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons across DT, Food, Design and Construction, aligned to curriculum and assessment requirements.
- Lead practical learning in workshops and kitchens with robust health & safety practice (including risk assessment, machinery use, and food hygiene).
- Contribute to curriculum development—updating schemes of learning, projects and assessments that build skills, creativity and progression.
- Track and improve pupil outcomes through effective feedback, responsive teaching and targeted intervention.
- Foster a positive classroom climate that promotes inclusion, resilience and a love of learning.
- Champion Construction within the faculty—developing projects, qualifications/routes, employer links and progression pathways.
- Support enrichment (e.g., clubs, competitions, STEM/CREST, employer challenges, showcases, trips).
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, moderate standards and drive continuous improvement.
- Engage with parents/carers, colleagues and external partners to support student success.
- Uphold safeguarding, professional standards and the ethos of the school and trust.
Essential What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and strong classroom practice.
- Confidence and competence to teach across DT, Food, Design and Construction.
- Solid understanding of health & safety, workshop/kitchen management and risk assessment (e.g., COSHH, machinery guards, food safety).
- Ability to design rigorous, sequenced curricula and deliver practical projects that build knowledge and skills.
- Commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all learners.
- Effective use of assessment, data and feedback to drive progress.
- Team player with excellent communication, organisation and reflective practice.
Desirable
- Experience or certification relevant to Construction (e.g., construction crafts, built environment, CAD/CAM, site practice or trade competencies).
- Experience with KS5 courses (e.g., Product Design or Vocational/Technical pathways).
- Industry links and willingness to develop employer partnerships, site visits and masterclasses.
- Additional workshop/kitchen qualifications (e.g., H&S, food hygiene L2/3, machinery training).
- Experience running enrichment or competitions.
What We Offer
- A supportive, forward-thinking Technology faculty with modern facilities and resources.
- High-quality CPD, coaching and clear pathways for progression.
- A culture of collaboration, trust and professional autonomy.
- Opportunities to shape and grow our Construction offer and wider Technology curriculum.
- Access to trust-wide networks, subject communities and enrichment initiatives.
