We’re looking for a compassionate, proactive, and dedicated Student Support Officer to join our Student Services Team at the Midland Met Hospital Campus on a 40-week term time only, permanent basis. This role is part time, 25 hours per week, and will offer you the chance to support students in overcoming barriers, enhancing their wellbeing, and thriving in their studies. As a Student Support Officer, you’ll be at the heart of student success, working closely with curriculum staff, safeguarding teams, and external agencies to ensure every student receives the support they need. You’ll play a key role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment, where every student can flourish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pastoral and wellbeing support to students, helping them overcome personal, social, or academic challenges.
- Assist students in accessing essential welfare support, such as free school meals and bursary payments.
- Identify, record, and report behavioural and welfare concerns, ensuring timely escalation to safeguarding staff.
- Contribute to student interventions and action plans, helping learners stay on track with their studies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records while liaising with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise:
- A GCSE Grade 4+ (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Experience working in further education or a school environment.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working.
- A relevant qualification in education, youth work, or support services.
- Experience in student support, pastoral care, or welfare roles.
