Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a curriculum to high‑needs learners, including life skills, social skills, employability, maths and English under supervision of the Learning Area Manager and in collaboration with other tutors in the Department
- Provide learners with the skills, knowledge and opportunities for educational and life‑enriching experiences
- Follow guidance issued by the awarding body and the college regarding assessment practice and documentation; engage in internal verification and standardisation meetings throughout the year
- Maintain appropriate continuing professional development, including attendance at all training events identified by the Learning Area Manager, to ensure highest standards of quality in teaching and assessing
Beneficial Skills and Qualifications
- Degree level education or equivalent, or substantial relevant SEND experience
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one – requirement to obtain a Stage 3 full professional qualification (PGCE in post‑16 education or equivalent) within 2‑4 years of commencement
- GCSE Maths and English grade C or above or Level 2 equivalent
- Experience working with entry to level 1 learners with SEND and SEMH
- Qualifications/CPD related to working with learners with learning disabilities
- Experience in further education or schools supporting learners with learning disabilities
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- Experience of using Office software packages, email and web browsers
