We are looking to recruit a reliable and enthusiastic Service Assistant to join our Catering Team on a part time (25 hours), 36 weeks term‑time only basis.

This is a fixed term opportunity covering maternity leave from September 2026 to June 2027.

Reporting to the Chef Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the day‑to‑day operation of our catering service, helping to provide a welcoming, safe, and high‑quality dining experience for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of food and refreshments, including salad items, baked products, and hot food service preparation for any of our catering outlets anything required from the Chef Manager.
  • Prepare and set up dining and service areas where needed, ensuring they are clean, organised, and ready for service including any restocking of goods.
  • Operate cash tills and undertake cashier duties in line with college procedures.
  • Clean down of catering areas to a high standard.
  • Assist with washing‑up and daily cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Follow SFBB regards food temperatures recordings cleaning rotas are all completed.
  • Assist with college hospitality functions, open events, and other special events.
  • Follow food hygiene, food safety, and health and safety procedures always.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy catering environment.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices, or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
