About The Role
As a Learning Support Officer, you will play a vital role in enabling learners with additional needs to access education, develop independence, and achieve their full potential. Working closely with teaching staff, you’ll provide tailored support across a range of curriculum areas, helping students build confidence, resilience, and the skills they need for future success. Grow your career with strong progression opportunities and continuous development; many of our Learning Support Officers have progressed into other careers across the college. This is a term time only role. Interviews will be held on 12th and 13th May. You would start in August 2026 as part of an exciting new academic year.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-class and 1:1 support to learners with SEND, enabling access to the curriculum
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt learning strategies and resources
- Support learners’ personal development, independence, and positive behaviours for learning
- Monitor and record student progress, attendance, and engagement
- Contribute to EHCP outcomes and support planning, review, and intervention processes
- Carry out duties in line with College policies and procedures, including safeguarding and equality commitments
Skills And Experience
- Experience supporting learners with SEND (e.g. ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
- Ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual learner needs
- Good organisational skills, with experience maintaining accurate records
- A proactive, flexible approach with a commitment to inclusion and learner success
