About the Role
Plumpton College is seeking an Agriculture Practical Coordinator to play a key role in linking our farm operations with our agriculture curriculum team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong agricultural knowledge, practical coordination skills, and a passion for supporting students to succeed. The role combines practical coordination with teaching, learning and assessment, helping to ensure that students benefit from high-quality, industry-relevant learning experiences.
As Agriculture Practical Coordinator, you will act as the main link between the farm and curriculum teams, ensuring practical activities are well planned, properly resourced and fully aligned with curriculum objectives, schemes of learning and assessment requirements. You will coordinate practical sessions, organise schedules, prepare resources and help maintain high-quality learning environments that reflect current industry standards. You will also contribute to teaching, assessment, student progress, tutoring and quality improvement across the provision. This role would suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively, is highly organised, and is committed to delivering an outstanding student experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary link between the farm and curriculum teams
- Coordinate and schedule practical sessions in line with curriculum plans and timetables
- Ensure practical activities align with qualification requirements, schemes of learning and assessment criteria
- Make sure equipment, materials, livestock and learning resources are prepared and available
- Monitor the condition, maintenance and safe use of resources and facilities
- Support the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment
- Track student progress and help students achieve their potential
- Act as a personal tutor and support students through induction, tutorials and progression
- Contribute to quality improvement, programme development and curriculum planning
- Take part in open days, recruitment activities and employer engagement
- Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding and student welfare in all aspects of the role

Essential Criteria
- A degree, professional qualification or equivalent relevant experience
- A relevant teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one
- English and maths qualifications at Level 2 or above
- Sector or industry experience and strong specialist subject knowledge in agriculture
- The ability, or clear potential, to teach to a consistently good or better standard
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong commitment to student success and high standards
- A clear understanding of student welfare, behaviour and safeguarding
- Strong IT skills
- A flexible, adaptable and solution-focused approach
- The ability to work effectively as part of a high-performing team
