The English department at Plumpton is a dedicated, skilled and experienced team of professionals. The ideal candidate will be professional, hardworking, and a team player with a desirable track record of good or outstanding teaching, contribution to departmental development and a passion for their subject. This role would be suitable for a teacher looking to make the shift from secondary teaching into a further education environment whilst retaining their subject specialism.

As an English Lecturer, you’ll play a key role in supporting students to achieve their potential and progress towards further education and employment. Working collaboratively with the Deputy Head of English and vocational programme managers, you will deliver high‑quality teaching, assessment, and support across GCSE English courses. The department work efficiently together in very real ways to support and encourage progress, of not only their students, but each other.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver consistently good or outstanding lessons for students using modern pedagogical technology and providing out of lesson learning opportunities.
- Monitor student progress, ensuring high attendance and timely assessment completion, providing clear and constructive feedback to students.
- Engage in departmental and college‑wide quality improvement initiatives, contributing to student, programme and overall College success.
- Participate fully in curriculum development initiatives so that you can deliver vibrant and relevant learning experiences.
- Champion equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices.
- A teaching qualification for the level of programme (PGCE or equivalent)
- Strong subject knowledge and Level 2 or higher qualifications in English and Maths.
- Proven ability (or potential) to teach to a high standard.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills.
- A commitment to collaborative working and continuous professional development.
- Experience teaching GCSE/FS English.
- A degree or professional qualification in a relevant subject.
