Lecturer in Plumbing – Full time, permanent contract. Salary: £38,645 to £42,715 per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and develop skills and theory, ensuring content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives.
  • Provide flexible assessment opportunities and plan, monitor, track and record student/apprentice retention, achievement and success.
  • Develop teaching resources and materials that meet the specifications set by awarding bodies, identifying learning objectives and outcomes for each session.
  • Work collaboratively with employers to ensure apprentices/students meet workplace expectations and apprenticeship standard requirements.
  • Contribute to curriculum development by supporting new programme design and producing schemes of work and training plans.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Support community and personal enrichment activities, including educational trips.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety across all college activities and manage student concerns within agreed protocols.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with internal colleagues and external partners to enhance the learner experience.
  • Support wider college activities, including internal and external meetings and events.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities that fall within the scope of the post.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths.
  • Minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in Plumbing.
  • At least 3 years of industry experience.
  • Knowledge of current evidence‑based practice in the field(s) of expertise.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet targets within set timescales.
  • Ability to work well in teams and independently with minimal supervision.
  • A “can‑do” attitude focused on achievement and continuous improvement.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to embrace new initiatives.
