LEARNING SUPPORT WORKER

Hours: Variable Hours

Salary: £15.47 or £15.13 (Depending on qualifications)

Duties will include working in the classroom to:

  • Implement intervention techniques to address emotional and behavioural issues.

You will work with our most vulnerable SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) students to support their learning, achievement, and progression into adulthood both in and out of the classroom. You will develop supportive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries and use strategies to promote and reinforce student self-esteem.

The ideal candidates will have previous experience working with young people in an educational setting and must have a good understanding of EHCPs and SEND. It is essential to have knowledge and experience of different learning needs and strategies to support students in becoming independent. You will need excellent communication skills and be able to work both under the direction of the class tutor and using your own initiative.

This role provides valuable experience for those considering a career in teaching, education, social work, or working with people who have learning difficulties.

You will receive training during your induction and additional training on various difficulties such as dyslexia and ADHD.

Requirements include having 5 GCSEs (Grade A*-C) including English Language and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent, some experience assisting students with learning difficulties and disabilities, and experience in the FE sector is advantageous.
