We have an excellent opportunity to join our thriving Engineering and Motor Vehicle department as a Mechanical Engineering Skills Instructor.
As Skills Instructor you will deliver innovative and informative workshop training sessions and assist the management team in providing high learning value, financially efficient programmes to students studying Mechanical Engineering.
This role is workshop‑based, and candidates should be comfortable delivering all learning and support within practical environments.

Responsibilities Include
- Deliver practical, workshop‑based skills training across programmes identified by the management team.
- Demonstrate and coach safe, current and industry‑relevant working practices.
- Support learners to develop technical, vocational and employability skills aligned to industry expectations.
- Promote an inclusive, supportive learning environment where all learners can participate and progress.
- Adapt delivery approaches to meet individual learner needs and abilities.
- Monitor and support learners’ progress, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing throughout their programme.
- Contribute to personalised learning plans that support learners to achieve their targets and career goals.
- Provide appropriate guidance and signposting to careers, wellbeing or additional support services.
- Seek out and respond to learner feedback, recognising learners as active partners in their learning journey.
- Contribute to enrolment, induction, profiling, monitoring and assessment processes.
- Support learners during work placements, off‑site visits and related enrichment or employer‑engagement activities.
- Help create meaningful learning activities that reflect real‑world work environments, both on and off campus.

Education & Training
- GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
- GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale
- A Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical Engineering or Engineering‑related discipline, or equivalent industry‑recognised qualification.
Experience
- Practical mechanical engineering skills supported by sound underpinning theoretical knowledge.
- Relevant experience gained in industry, training, education or a comparable professional environment, demonstrating current or transferable mechanical engineering practice.
