Part‑Time Academic Support Assistant (Term Time Only) Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have an exciting opportunity for Academic Support Assistants to join our dedicated and supportive team on a term‑time only, permanent basis. Working hours range from 18.5 to 35 hours per week, making it ideal for those seeking a role that supports work‑life balance. You will receive a competitive salary of £10,113.87 – £19,134.34 per annum (£24,520 per annum FTE). You will be employed through Southern Educational Professional Services Ltd, a subsidiary of the College.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working under the direction of teaching staff to deliver specialist academic support
  • Supporting learners with English and maths, Autism, and/or specific learning difficulties
  • Encouraging students to develop independence and confidence in their learning
  • Supporting students during teaching sessions by clarifying instructions, checking understanding, and recapping learning
  • Providing tailored support outside the classroom, including Study Centre sessions

About You

  • You will ideally have experience using online record‑keeping systems
  • Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft Office
  • Experience engaging with individuals of different ages and academic levels
  • An understanding of additional learning needs and disabilities
  • Knowledge and awareness of safeguarding
