As a key member of the Colleges’ Leadership Team and one of a team of Heads of School within the College, you will report to the Executive Director of Student Support and Experience. You will be responsible for the leadership and the efficient and effective running of all aspects of the English and Maths School. You will be responsible for delivering the departmental business plan and achieving departmental targets in relation to curriculum, student recruitment, achievement, quality, finance, people and corporate services. You will also provide strong academic planning and operational leadership at School level within the directorate and have specific responsibility for developing and overseeing educational, scholarship and professional practice across the School.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and ensure the efficient and effective running of all aspects of the English and Maths School.
- Deliver the departmental business plan and achieve targets related to curriculum, student recruitment, achievement, quality, finance, people and corporate services.
- Provide strong academic planning and operational leadership at School level and oversee educational, scholarship and professional practice across the School.
Qualifications:
- Degree level qualification in Maths or English or equivalent experience in an educational setting, plus a recognised teaching qualification at level 4 or above.
- You will also have or be willing to work towards a leadership and management qualification.
- Recent background in the FE sector in a key management position, with a track record of successful curriculum management and ideally experience implementing English and Maths intervention programmes outside of the classroom with clear measured impact.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide direction and leadership that inspires confidence and commitment, and to build positive relationships to bring about improvements.
