The RFU is looking for a creative and proactive Content Creator to support the delivery of engaging, inclusive, and impactful communications for the community and grassroots game. This role will help bring to life the stories, people, and passion that underpin rugby at the local level — from clubs and volunteers to youth players and community programmes. Working closely with the Community Game Engagement Lead and Head of Content you’ll produce content across a range of channels, ensuring that grassroots rugby is visible, celebrated, and supported. This is a fantastic opportunity for a digital-savvy content producer with a passion for sport, storytelling, and community impact.
The Content Team is made up of 16 people, led by the Head of Content, and split into four areas: website, video, social and live. Our purpose as a team is to inspire and educate existing and unknown fans, by telling the story of our England rugby teams and its players, as well as shining a light on the community game, providing resources and information for its growth whilst supporting the governing body through content creation. This role will work closely across Content & our Corporate Communications teams.
Some key responsibilities include:
- Create high-quality multimedia content that promotes grassroots rugby.
- Tell the story of our national campaigns, as well as the clubs and people they benefit.
- Create and amplify content to showcase our commercial partners activating in the community space.
- Collaborate with clubs, Constituent Bodies (CBs), and internal teams to gather authentic stories and case studies from across the country.
- Work with the content team across social and web to tell those compelling human-interest stories.
- Support national campaigns aimed at increasing participation, inclusion, and volunteer recognition within the community game.
- Help promote RFU cup competitions: school, county and club.
- Ensure all content reflects the RFU’s tone, values, and visual identity — with a particular focus on accessibility and representation.
- Assist in the organisation and promotion of key events, forums, and webinars involving the grassroots rugby community.
- Maintain content calendars and support internal communications as needed to keep stakeholders informed and aligned.
- Work closely with relevant agencies to plan and deliver content.
- Contribute to ideation and content development, with a focus on moving content forwards.
- Actively collaborate with colleagues across the RFU to support the development and delivery of strategic, business and operational plans.
- Act as an ambassador for the RFU, promoting its core values and back culture internally and externally.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required that are consistent with the responsibilities of the role and the needs of the organisation.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
The skills and attributes outlined in this description are not exhaustive and we welcome candidates who can bring different relevant experiences to the role.
Essential:
- Experience in content creation, ideally in a sport, charity, community, or grassroots context.
- Experience of social media channel management, especially Instagram.
- Confident using social media platforms and production tools, Adobe suite, etc.
- Experience working with video and photography (shooting and editing).
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to build relationships across teams and with external partners.
- A strong understanding of, or passion for, rugby and the grassroots sports environment is highly desirable.
- Committed to embodying the ethos our culture by using our three core values – Put The Team First, Shape The Future, Respect Each Other – to guide your day-to-day decisions, actions and interactions.

About England Rugby
England Rugby or Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the national governing body for rugby in England. We deliver three core activities, and our purpose is to enrich lives, introduce more people to rugby union and develop the sport for future generations.
Our core activities are:
- Rugby – supporting rugby from grassroots to performance level.
- Commercial – building partnerships and hosting matches and events.
- Running the business - ensuring our organization and people can thrive.
Our Culture
At England Rugby, one of our core objectives is to drive rugby union to better reflect the diversity of society. We are aware that rugby, and sports in general, has not always been as welcoming an environment for everyone as we would like, and we are working hard to make rugby a more inclusive space for all identities.
We believe hiring people from underrepresented groups into positions at all levels is vital to creating spaces and initiatives that better support those identities. We would love to see applications from disabled people, LGBTQ+; people, people from ethnically diverse communities, people of faith, people from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and women and non-binary people.
We know that representation is more than just getting people through the door, it’s about keeping people by responding to structural barriers relating to identities and valuing the insights that different lived experiences bring. We have network groups that provide peer-to-peer support and drive forward change internally. We support colleagues to develop, and each colleague has access to a personal coaching platform that can provide same-day one-to-one coaching. We are pushing ourselves to create a more inclusive culture every day through role modelling our culture and core values; This Rose Means Everyone: Put The Team First, Shape The Future, Respect Each Other.
We know that flexible working is important to our colleagues, so our guiding principles are designed to support everyone to work in the way that suits them, their teams, and the organization in the best way.
