As a member of the CHOWK47 kitchen team, you will play an important role in preparing authentic Indian and Persian cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, food safety, and presentation.

What We're Looking ForThe successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience in the chef position applied for within a busy restaurant, hotel, or premium hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine.
- Experience in Persian cuisine is highly desirable.
- Hands on experience relevant to your speciality, including:
- Tandoor cooking
- Charcoal grilling
- Curry preparation
- Dessert production
- Section management
- Excellent knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, seasoning, portion control, and presentation.
- Ability to maintain consistency during high-volume service.
- Good understanding of stock rotation, food costing, inventory management, and waste reduction.
- Strong knowledge of UK Food Safety, Food Hygiene, HACCP, allergen legislation, COSHH, and Health & Safety requirements.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, organisation, and time management skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Positive attitude, attention to detail, and commitment to professional kitchen standards.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Depending on the position applied for, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing and cooking authentic Indian and Persian dishes to CHOWK47 standards.
- Managing your designated kitchen section efficiently.
- Ensuring consistency in food quality, taste, presentation, and portion control.
- Preparing ingredients and mise en place for daily service.
- Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef during service.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment.
- Following all UK Food Safety, HACCP, allergen, COSHH, and Health & Safety procedures.
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
- Assisting with stock rotation and minimising food waste.
- Maintaining kitchen equipment and reporting maintenance issues promptly.
- Supporting menu development and continuous improvement where appropriate.
- Working closely with the front of house team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Mentoring junior chefs and kitchen assistants where applicable.
- Representing CHOWK47 through professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional culinary standards.
While not essential, the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Award in Food Safety & Hygiene for Catering
- HACCP Certification
- Food Allergen Awareness Training
- COSHH Awareness
- Health & Safety in the Workplace
- Fire Safety Awareness
- Manual Handling Training
- Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or First Aid at Work (FAW)
- NVQ/SVQ, City & Guilds, Professional Cookery, Hospitality, or an equivalent internationally recognised culinary qualification
- Experience using kitchen management, ordering, stock control, or inventory systems
