We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll & Benefits Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll data is processed correctly, statutory requirements are met, and employees receive a professional and responsive service in relation to pay, pensions, and other benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and on time, including starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, statutory payments, and deductions.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure all data is up to date and handled confidentially and in accordance with data protection requirements.
  • Administer employee benefits, including pensions, salary sacrifice arrangements, and other benefit programmes.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports and statutory information in line with HMRC and internal requirements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for employee and manager queries relating to pay, deductions, pensions, and benefits, providing clear and timely guidance.
  • Liaise closely with HR, Finance, and external providers to ensure payroll and benefits information is accurately reflected and processed.
  • Support month-end and year-end payroll activity, reconciliations, pension submissions, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor changes in payroll legislation and employment-related regulations, helping to maintain compliant and efficient payroll processes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Two years’ previous experience in a similar payroll role, ideally in a fast-paced organisation.
  • Good understanding of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with customer-focused approach and confidence in handling employee queries.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience using payroll systems (Fourth Hospitality preferred) and good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • CIPP qualification or relevant payroll training is desirable but not essential.
