Take a customer's sensor and make it work on Scout: mounted, wired, powered, coded and proven at sea.
We tell customers to bring their own sensors. You make that true. Hydrophones, cameras, weather stations, CTD chains, acoustic modems: each needs a mount, power, a data link and software before it is useful. You will do all four, then prove it on the water.
What you will do
- Scope each integration with the customer: what it measures, its power, data and mounting.
- Design brackets, housings and cable routes in CAD, then 3D print or machine them.
- Wire sensors into the payload bay: power, RS232, RS485 and Ethernet.
- Write drivers and parsers in Python on Linux, and get the data into Tether.
- Test on the bench and at sea, and stay with it until the data is right.
What you will bring
- 5+ years integrating sensors or instruments onto vehicles or platforms.
- Mechanical: CAD, 3D printing, sealing and connectors.
- Software: Python and Linux.
- Electronics: wiring, power and serial protocols.
- Clear with customers, technical or not.
