The Role

We’re looking for someone to join our buying team and drive strong seasonal performance through smart sales analysis, market insight and confident negotiation. You’ll manage Buyers and Merchandisers to deliver the right product, at the right price, at the right time — keeping launches on track and customers front of mind. Working closely with Far East suppliers and our Ecommerce, Marketing and Social teams, you’ll help bring great ranges to life and keep us leading the value market.

  • Analyse sales data highlighting best/worst performers and take appropriate action.
  • Managing a team, consisting of Merchandisers/ Buyers/ Assistant Buyers/ Buying Admin- to ensure deadlines are met e.g. launch dates etc.
  • Have a strong understanding of our target consumers, competitors and marketplace platforms.
  • Liaise with far east factories on costing ranges/ negotiations/ managing supplier relationships and production.
  • Ensure we are achieving seasonal launch dates.
  • Build and form a buying strategy for every season by analysing market trends and sales data- develop this with the team and action the strategy successfully.
  • Lead the development in product ranges each season, by carrying out in store and online comp analysis.
  • Negotiate all ranges every season to ensure OHS are the lead value retailer in the UK market.
  • Communicating with the E-Commerce/ Marketing/ Social teams to help support campaigns and photo shoots.

💡 What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 4 years industry experience as Buyer/ Senior Buyer in Home or Fashion.
  • Wide market awareness across Value Retailers in the market.
  • High organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to analyse data and build relevant business strategies from this.
  • An understanding of the supply chain.
  • A creative mind-set.
  • The ability to independently grow a product range.
  • Administrative and accuracy skills.
  • IT skills including Excel.
  • Highly motivated and driven for a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team to deliver the best results.
