Our revolutionary Nanoimager stands at the forefront of advancing cellular studies on a molecular level, making substantial contributions to the evolution of scientific knowledge. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage scale-up environments, where quality systems, compliance, and safety infrastructure must be right-sized, risk-based, and operationally practical, while still supporting future UKCA, CE, and global regulatory pathways.
You will act as both the builder and owner of the company’s quality, product safety, and health & safety infrastructure as products transition from prototype to repeatable, compliant production. This role carries clear authority to define quality standards, enforce compliance, and act as the quality gatekeeper for product and process release across consumables, hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities- Quality Management System Ownership
- Own and maintain a fit-for-purpose QMS aligned to ISO 9001 principles and future UKCA / CE readiness
- Implement and enforce core processes including document & record control, change management, non-conformance & CAPA, and training & competency
- Product Safety & Compliance
- Lead safety engineering for microscopy systems including: Laser, optical, electrical and mechanical hazards; Chemical, biological and hazardous material risks
- Own risk management and technical safety documentation
- Convert standards and regulations into clear, auditable test methods with defined acceptance criteria and traceability
- Design Transfer & Manufacturing Quality
- Own a stage-gated Product Development Process
- Support R&D in transferring designs to repeatable production
- Establish and standardise inspection, validation, and quality execution across the product lifecycle
- Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership
- Champion operator, facility, and product safety
- Own hazardous material governance and COSHH compliance
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Life Sciences or related field
- 7–10+ years in quality, product safety, or manufacturing quality within hardware environments
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 (ISO 13485 advantageous), product safety and risk management, and UKCA / CE compliance
- Comfortable operating hands-on in engineering and manufacturing environments
