Job Summary

To carry out glazing tasks to a high standard in occupied and empty properties, in a courteous and polite manner and in accordance with the relevant safety regulations and organizational policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities

  • To carry out glazing to windows and doors, including making safe, measuring and ordering of glass as required.
  • To carry out repairs to upvc windows and high performance doors, including the replacement of hinges, locks, latches and all other repairs as required.
  • Identification and renewal of beadings and resealing windows and doors.
  • Removal of old and measuring, specifying and the installation of new doors and any remedial works in terms of making good to walls etc.
  • Installing new windows, including measuring, specifying and making good as required.
  • Removal and installation of trickle vents.
  • To gain access to properties when required by the organisation.
  • To maintain, repair and replace window and door locks.
  • To maintain, repair and replace garage doors and locks.
  • To identify from inspection, materials required to carry out repair or installation to the required standard.
  • To be customer focused at all times and have the ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels.
  • To work with various forms of technology including an iPad to ensure tasks are deployed and completed correctly and efficiently.

The post holder will be expected to be aware of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children and report any concerns via Ongo’s Safeguarding policies and procedures.

Skills, Competence, Experience Required

  • NVQ Level 2 in Fenestration Installation (Glass & Glazing) or equivalent.
  • Experience in social housing setting desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of property repairs, construction techniques and maintenance work.
  • Knowledge in the use and maintenance of tools, plant and machinery relevant to the trade.
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety at Work practices.
  • Ability to carry out dynamic risk assessments.
  • Understanding of COSHH regulations.
  • Customer Care orientated and dedicated to the provision of a high-quality service.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Basic IT skills.
