Salary £47,132 – Day Shift Immediate Interviews Southampton

Reporting to: Maintenance Manager

Scope of the role: Support the Maintenance Manager in a specified area of responsibility to ensure that maintenance targets are achieved.

Key internal relationships: Maintenance Manager, Shift Co-Ordinators, Area Co-Ordinators, Production Manager, Quality Team, Maintenance Team

Working pattern/hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am until 4pm

Three key areas are that you have previously worked as an Engineer in a Manufacturing environment and have managed staff.

The Role

PRINCIPLE TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Managing 3 staff
  • To provide holiday and absence cover for the Maintenance Manager and undertake all duties associated with this as detailed below:
    • Order any spare parts that are needed for breakdown repairs.
    • Organise team holidays to ensure enough cover is provided for production.
    • Organise overtime when needed.
    • Delegate work to team members.
    • Meet with Production Manager and Supervisors to prioritise repairs and attend daily morning and management meetings when required.
    • Keep graphs, KPI data and cost control up to date.
    • Support long term breakdowns.
  • Conduct regular housekeeping audits to continually raise standards across the site and work towards a world class environment.
  • Responsible for the ongoing improvement in risk reduction and overall responsibility for health and safety compliance across the department.
  • Work directly with the quality team to identify any quality issues and subsequent action relevant to maintenance.
  • Take responsibility to stock take consumables.
  • Delegate work to team members and co-ordinate.
  • Deal with long term breakdowns and discuss with manufacturers.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager as and when needed.
  • Escalate problems, incidents or concerns to the relevant people in a timely manner.
  • Assist with continuous improvement/quality projects within the department.
  • Work in accordance with health and Safety guidelines, having particular regard for the safe operation of machinery and equipment and the correct use of guarding.
  • Assist other sections, departments, with support and information as directed.
  • You may, when necessary, be required to work in other departments within the Company.

The Individual

Essential skills include:

  • Qualified Engineer.
  • Educated to minimum GCSE level.
  • Excellent communication skills – demonstrating the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with KPI’s, objectives and target setting.

Desirable Skills include:

  • ILM level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management minimum with a view to achieving ILM level 5 Certificate.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Experience of supervising an effective team.
  • Health and safety qualifications or able to demonstrate good knowledge.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
