TeachersDesk is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs in schools across Newham. We are looking for caring, reliable and proactive individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties and other special educational needs.
The Role
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Assist students with autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
- Help pupils access learning and engage positively in lessons
- Support behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
- Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
We Are Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience in schools, childcare, youth work, support work, care or SEND settings
- A calm, patient and professional approach
- Good communication skills
- Ability to travel reliably to Newham schools
- A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
Desirable Experience
- None needed - we are looking for people with the right attitude
- SEND, Autism, ADHD or SEMH experience
- Behaviour support experience
- PECS, Makaton, Team Teach or similar training
- Experience within SEN schools, resource provisions, PRUs or alternative provisions
