Consumables Stock Controller in Carlisle

Are you an experienced Stock Controller looking for a permanent part-time role that offers a better work-life balance?

We are recruiting for a highly organised and proactive Consumables Stock Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day management of essential clinical consumables at a busy healthcare location in Carlisle.

Working 4.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, this is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong stock control, warehousing or inventory management experience who enjoys working independently and providing an excellent service to on-site teams.

The proposed working hours are 9:30am–2:00pm, although some flexibility may be available following discussion with the successful candidate and the on-site clinical team.

The Role

You will be responsible for ensuring that essential consumables are ordered, received, stored and readily available for clinical staff. Your duties will include:

• Managing the day-to-day availability of consumable stock
• Monitoring usage and maintaining appropriate stock levels
• Placing automatic, manual and non-stock orders
• Raising purchase orders and managing requisitions
• Sourcing non-stock products when required
• Adding and updating product information on the inventory system
• Expediting orders and liaising with suppliers
• Accepting deliveries and resolving shortages, over-deliveries or damaged items
• Ensuring products are stored safely, correctly located and ready for use
• Rotating stock using FIFO principles
• Managing product recalls, quarantined items, returns and expired stock
• Completing cyclical and annual stocktakes and reconciliations
• Reviewing expiry reports and working with clinical staff to minimise waste
• Resolving pricing and invoice queries with suppliers, procurement and finance teams
• Receiving and managing products supplied for trials or on loan
• Providing helpful and responsive support to on-site clinical staff
• Maintaining clean, safe and efficiently organised stock rooms

About You

To be considered, you should have:

• Previous stock control, warehousing or inventory management experience
• Ideally, at least 3 years’ relevant experience
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Confidence using inventory or stock management systems
• Good Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience raising orders, monitoring stock and liaising with suppliers
• The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• A proactive, customer-focused approach
• A full UK driving licence and access to transport

Additional Information

Previous experience within the NHS, healthcare, medical supplies or another regulated environment would be advantageous, but is not essential. Occasional travel to other UK locations may be required for training. The successful applicant will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check, with employment subject to a satisfactory disclosure.
