International Shipboard Position on Cruise Ships. Company OneSpaWorld is a worldwide provider and innovator in the fields of beauty, wellness, rejuvenation and transformation across the globe on cruise ships and on land. Opportunity: OneSpaWorld is looking to hire acupuncturists to work in their spas on board cruise ships throughout the world. Share your knowledge of acupuncture with the global community, meet new cultures and see the world while gaining experience in your profession. The position is commission based with a minimum guarantee. Room/board are provided as well as acupuncture supplies. Acupuncturists have their own room on board. Flights to and from the ship on your first contract are included.

Position Requirements:

  • United States acupuncturists must hold a current valid state license and/or be certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
  • Acupuncturists educated outside the United States must have graduated from a program that is educationally equivalent to that of the United States, including approximately 2,000 hours of classroom and clinical study.
  • A minimum of 2,000 study hours.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to successfully provide acupuncture treatments.
  • Ability to manage multiple treatment rooms simultaneously.
  • Ability to conduct an initial consultation and treatment in under 20 minutes.
  • Ability to conduct 10‑minute consultations about acupuncture and Chinese herbs.
  • Ability to publicly speak on Traditional Chinese Medicine topics.
  • Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Comfortable working in a sales‑oriented job (sales training will be provided).
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Fluency in English required.

Pre‑Requisites for Contracts:

  • US citizens must have a valid passport (within 6 months of expiry from contract end date).
  • If you are not authorized to work in the US, you must be eligible for issue of a United States C1/D Visa (non‑immigrant transit visa).
  • Completion of Maritime medical exam and be declared fit to work.
  • Successful completion of training course.

Position Summary:

An Acupuncturist administers the highest quality acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatments to our on‑board guests, possesses a thorough knowledge of Chinese Medicine modalities, and is able to communicate those concepts to guests. They must also have a general understanding of all body treatments and be able to deliver wellness solutions that meet our guests’ needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet new people daily.
  • Conduct patient consultations and effectively inform and educate clients about specific concerns.
  • Follow up with clients post‑treatment to ensure desired results.
  • Manage clients in unsupervised situations.
  • Develop friendly relations with the spa team and clients.
  • Understand clients’ problems and concerns.
  • Recommend acupuncture treatments and provide outstanding guest service.
  • Present yourself professionally in front of new groups of people.
  • Listen patiently and sympathetically.
  • Assure compliance with standard regulations, including company policies and protocols.
  • Be responsible for quality of work.
  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
  • Maintain inventory and keep waste to a minimum.
  • Be on time for work and prompt for each appointment.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to, and including, termination of employment.
