As our Specialist SEN Teacher, you will provide expert guidance and tailored interventions for students with a range of additional learning needs. You will work collaboratively across the campus to develop inclusive teaching practices and support colleagues in delivering high-quality provision. You will also contribute to the development, implementation, and review of individual support plans, ensuring students receive appropriate and effective support throughout their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and identify students' special educational needs and learning barriers.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and specialist teaching strategies to support individual student progress.
  • Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and use data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to promote inclusive classroom practices.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to colleagues regarding SEN provision and differentiation.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP reviews, and other statutory processes as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with school policies and statutory requirements.
  • Promote student wellbeing, independence, and positive outcomes across all areas of learning.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • A sound understanding of current SEN legislation, guidance, and best practice.
  • Experience supporting students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting positive outcomes for all students.

Desirable

  • Additional qualifications or specialist training in SEND.
  • Experience working with EHCP processes and reviews.
  • Experience within specialist, alternative provision, or independent school settings.
