About the Role

As Deputy / Assistant Campus Principal (Pastoral), you will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of pastoral provision across the campus, ensuring students are supported both academically and personally to reach their full potential. You will serve as a key member of the Campus Leadership Team, leading the school's approach to:

  • Behaviour, conduct and positive culture
  • Student leadership and recognition programmes
  • Staff development in safeguarding and pastoral practice
  • Partnership working with parents, carers and external agencies
  • Compliance with safeguarding and pastoral regulatory requirements

As the campus's pastoral lead, you will work closely with academic and student support colleagues, recognising the important connection between wellbeing, attendance, safeguarding and educational achievement. You will also act as the Campus Principal's deputy, providing visible leadership across the campus and supporting the continued development of a safe, inclusive and high-performing learning environment.

About You

We are looking for an inspirational leader who combines strong pastoral expertise with a genuine commitment to helping young people succeed. You will have:

  • Relevant qualifications, registrations or accreditations required to practise as an educator and educational leader within the applicable nation (for example, Qualified Teacher Status in England and Wales, GTC Scotland registration, or GTCNI registration in Northern Ireland).
  • Experience in a middle or senior leadership role with significant pastoral responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation and best practice
  • Experience leading behaviour, attendance and student wellbeing initiatives
  • Experience working effectively with external agencies and multi-agency professionals
  • Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to analyse data and use insights to improve student outcomes
  • A commitment to creating a culture where students feel safe, supported and empowered to succeed

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL
  • Experience as an Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or equivalent senior leader

  • NPQSL, NPQH or equivalent leadership qualification
  • Experience leading successful school improvement initiatives

Early applications are encouraged, and we reserve the right to close the vacancy if a suitable candidate is found.
