As we continue to mature our enterprise data capability, we’re recruiting a Data Architect to help shape how data is organised, governed and consumed across the Group. This is a senior, strategic role responsible for defining and implementing an enterprise‑wide data architecture that supports OSB’s business goals, aligns to our data strategy, and enables colleagues to confidently use trusted, well‑structured data. Reporting into the Group Head of Data Architecture, you’ll work closely with business stakeholders, data specialists and engineering teams to design the models, standards and architectural components that underpin OSB’s data ecosystem. You’ll ensure our data assets are secure, compliant, easy to consume and fit for the future, while driving continuous improvement and supporting innovation across analytics, AI and advanced data use cases. The role can be based from our Wolverhampton, London or Chatham offices with regular travel to London expected where this is not your home location.

As a Data Architect you will shape and maintain OSB’s enterprise‑wide data architecture, ensuring our data is well‑structured, secure, compliant and easy for the business to use. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Define and maintain OSB’s enterprise data architecture, creating models, standards and blueprints aligned to business strategy, regulatory expectations and data governance.
  • Partner with business and data stakeholders to translate domain needs into architectural requirements, ensuring data is structured, integrated and easily consumable for analysts, data scientists and engineers.
  • Establish and oversee data lifecycle, security, privacy and compliance practices, ensuring adherence to GDPR, Basel and OSB’s risk and governance frameworks.
  • Design and evolve conceptual, logical and physical data models, supporting cloud‑native data processing, Azure/Databricks ecosystems and modern consumption patterns.
  • Drive continuous improvement by adopting emerging technologies (including AI), enhancing architecture components and safely decommissioning legacy data and systems.
  • Maintain clear documentation, contribute to data governance forums and support experimentation, exploration and innovation within the Data Office.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences, applying strong analytical, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills in a collaborative, enterprise‑wide environment.

Base salary between £85,000 - £95,000 dependent upon experience. Enhanced family-focused benefits. Annual bonus opportunity. 30 days annual leave + bank holidays.

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect with Microsoft Azure Databricks ecosystem including Data Fabric managing different consumption processes.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise data architecture frameworks, principles, standards and how they align to business strategy, regulatory expectations and governance.
  • Advanced understanding of enterprise data modelling techniques, data lifecycle management, master data management and modern data consumption patterns.
  • Strong familiarity with data governance frameworks, data security practices, cloud‑native processing and best‑practice cloud data architecture.
  • Awareness of emerging data technologies, architectural trends and cost‑management considerations across enterprise data ecosystems.
  • Advanced analytical, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills, able to define the right architectural approach and drive strategic change.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across a maturing Data & Analytics organisation.
