Our Data and Insights Team:
The Data and Insights Team sits at the centre of decision‑making at Oner Active. We are responsible for transforming data into actionable insight that drives performance across every area of the business, from Finance and Commercial to Marketing, Product, Customer Experience and Retail. We are a curious, collaborative and ambitious team that values ownership, problem solving and continuous improvement.
About You:
We are looking for a Data and Insights Manager to join our growing Data and Insights function and play a pivotal role in connecting commercial performance to the numbers behind it. As Oner Active expands beyond pure ecommerce into bricks and mortar retail, this role will be central to building the omnichannel insight foundation that supports the next stage of our growth alongside our online business.
You will be the bridge between Data, Finance and Commercial teams, working closely with our Finance and Commercial teams to give them confidence in the numbers that matter, from daily revenue through to monthly close commentary. You will own the analytical workstreams that finance, trade, and commercial teams rely on to make sound decisions, including revenue recognition and reconciliation, margin and product profitability, marketing spend ROI and attribution, and the forecasting and budgeting work that underpins our annual planning cycle.
You will report into the Senior Data and Insights Manager and line manage an Insights Analyst, supporting their technical development and shaping how the wider team delivers commercial analysis.
To thrive in this role, you must have an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong commercial instinct, and the ability to navigate the messy realities of multi‑channel retail data. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in ambiguity, confident speaking to finance and commercial stakeholders alike, and able to balance the rigour of financial reporting with the pace of trading insight.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Commercial and Finance Partnering: Act as the senior analytical partner to the Finance team, owning the data and reporting layer that supports revenue reconciliation, monthly close, external audit, and revenue recognition across online and retail channels. Build and maintain product profitability and gross margin reporting at SKU, collection, and channel level, working closely with Product, Merchandising, and Finance on margin levers. Support annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasts, and rolling forecasts with data‑led scenario modelling and trading assumptions. Produce monthly P&L commentary and variance analysis in partnership with Finance, translating numbers into clear narrative for the SLT. Own finance‑facing reporting on inventory and stock value, working capital, refunds and returns, discount and promotion leakage, and ad‑hoc financial deep dives as they arise.
- Omnichannel Insight and Strategic Reporting: Design and build the cross‑channel reporting framework that lets us compare, contrast, and consolidate performance across online and retail stores. Develop channel‑level KPIs, benchmarks, and trading rhythms that work for an omnichannel business. Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders, including the Finance Directors, CCO, and SLT.
- Leadership and Team Development: Line manage the Insights Analyst, owning their development plan, technical review, and day‑to‑day prioritisation. Champion best practice in SQL, data modelling, and BI development across the wider team. Act as a guardian of data accuracy, ensuring the integrity of finance‑critical and commercial numbers across the business.
You’ll need to have:
- 4 to 6 years of experience in a Data and Insights, Senior Analyst, Commercial Analyst, or similar role within a B2C environment, ideally with exposure to omnichannel retail across online and physical stores.
- A strong track record of partnering with Finance teams on revenue, margin, forecasting, and P&L workstreams, while also delivering insight across customer, trading, marketing, and product.
- Demonstrable experience working across the full commercial breadth of an ecommerce or omnichannel business (customer, trading, marketing, product, finance), not just one area.
- Experience supporting external audit, revenue reconciliation, or working with finance directors on monthly close cycles is a strong advantage.
- Experience line managing or mentoring junior analysts is desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Strong SQL skills (T‑SQL preferred), with the ability to write performant queries against large transactional datasets.
- Strong Power BI skills, including DAX, data modelling, and dashboard design.
- Advanced Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling.
- Familiarity with Python (pandas, forecasting libraries) is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure SQL is desirable.
- Comfortable with Business Intelligence, Data Governance, and data modelling best practice.
Platforms:
- Experience with Shopify or comparable ecommerce platforms.
- Familiarity with bricks and mortar retail data structures (POS systems, stock and inventory flows across stores) is a strong advantage.
- Exposure to attribution platforms (e.g. Triple Whale), CRM platforms (e.g. Emarsys, Klaviyo), and marketing platforms (Meta, TikTok, Google) is helpful.
Mindset:
- Strong commercial instinct, with the ability to think like both a finance partner and a trading analyst.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when presenting financial and commercial analysis to non‑technical senior stakeholders.
- Curious, pragmatic, and comfortable owning the answer end to end.
- Growth‑oriented with a passion for building things that scale as the business grows.
