Join Our Team as a Patient Navigator (Zero Hours Contract) at Brooklands Health Centre! Are you a friendly, outgoing individual with excellent communication skills and confidence using IT systems? Main duties of the job:

Brooklands Health Centre is seeking a Receptionist, also known as Patient Navigator, to join our team. In this essential role, you will ensure the smooth running of the surgery, providing patients with a positive experience while supporting our team to deliver outstanding care. We understand how important your role is and will value your contributions every step of the way.

Job responsibilities:

  • Welcoming patients and visitors, managing check-ins, and providing appointment information.
  • Answering phone calls and handling patient inquiries with empathy and professionalism.
  • Scheduling and managing appointments using our system.
  • Processing prescription requests from patients and pharmacies.
  • Handling patient queries in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and letters, with accuracy.
  • Keeping the reception area tidy and ensuring smooth handovers for colleagues.
  • Completing administrative tasks such as patient registrations and updates.

Whitehouse Surgery is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built Health Centre, open to all Milton Keynes residents. We are located along the V4, between the H3 and H4, with ample parking. Our team offer the highest levels of care, as well as tailoring services to suit patients' health and wellbeing needs. Whitehouse Surgery is made up of GPs, Practice Nurses, Health Coaches, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers and Mental Health Workers, with further support from our PCN including First Contact Physiotherapists and Drugs/Alcohol Support in house. Our non-clinician team is made up of our practice's Business Manager, Senior Administrator, and Receptionist team, with support from Medical Secretaries and Clinical Coders working in a centralised hub.

Person Specification:

Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare or administrative role is desirable but not essential.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in handling patient information.
  • Confidence in using IT systems and basic office software.
