Oneiro builds DLX, a platform that helps financial institutions manage syndicated lending and loan administration.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Engineer to own meaningful product work from discovery through design, implementation, release, and production follow-up. You’ll work across the stack and collaborate closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and client-facing teams to turn real customer problems into pragmatic, reliable software.
This is a senior individual contributor role, scoped below Staff level. You’ll be expected to anchor project delivery, identify risks early, mentor others, and raise the quality bar within the team.
What you’ll do
- Own features, workflows, and integrations from problem definition through to production.
- Build clean, maintainable, well-tested software across the stack.
- Turn ambiguous problems into clear technical plans and keep delivery moving.
- Contribute to system and API design, data flows, reliability, performance, and security.
- Work carefully with complex financial logic, calculations, dates, state transitions, and edge cases.
- Define correctness invariants and design appropriate tests and controls.
- Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and customers to understand real user needs.
- Improve the tooling, documentation, testing, and systems you work with.
- Support and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Develop deep expertise in syndicated lending and loan administration.
What we’re looking for
We look for candidates with strong analytical ability and evidence of excellence, whether demonstrated through academic achievement, professional work, or substantial projects, regardless of university or educational background.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong experience building and operating production software.
- Experience owning features from requirements through deployment and production support.
- Confidence reasoning about mathematical models, financial calculations, assumptions, rounding, dates, state transitions, and edge cases.
- Ability to independently validate complex financial logic and define correctness invariants.
- A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or another highly quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Good understanding of system design, APIs, data flows, automated testing, reliability, performance, and security.
- Experience with cloud-native systems, integrations, distributed systems, or workflow-driven products.
- Practical experience using AI development tools to improve engineering productivity or quality.
- Strong communication skills and a product-minded approach.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities and requirements can change.
- Professional experience building software in banking, fintech, lending, payments, or another complex regulated domain.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with corporate banking, syndicated loans, loan servicing, or financial operations.
- Startup, scale-up, or founding experience, or experience in another high-ownership environment.
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs or enterprise platforms.
- Experience working in SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, or similarly controlled environments.
- Experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers.
Location
The role is currently remote, with a preference for candidates based in or near Edinburgh or Glasgow. We’re exploring the possibility of opening an office in Scotland in the future, but these plans are not yet confirmed. We’ll be transparent as they develop.
Oneiro is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and making our hiring process accessible to everyone.
