A well-established business operating across the consumer goods and retail sectors is looking for an accomplished Commercial Insights Lead to strengthen its client-facing insight capability. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can move confidently between data, people and commercial conversations. You will lead a small team of experienced analysts, shape the insight agenda and ensure that information from multiple sources is turned into useful, persuasive recommendations. Rather than simply reporting what has happened, you will help stakeholders understand why it happened, where the opportunities sit and what should happen next.

The role

  • Lead, coach and develop a small commercial insights team
  • Set priorities and maintain consistently high standards across the team's output
  • Combine sales, market, consumer, retail and operational data to identify opportunities
  • Turn detailed analysis into clear commercial stories and recommendations
  • Build insightful presentations for senior client and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to business planning, performance reviews and growth discussions
  • Improve reporting approaches, analytical tools and ways of working
  • Challenge assumptions constructively and bring an independent commercial perspective
  • Work collaboratively with account management, operations and field-based teams

About you

  • Strong experience in commercial insight, sales insight, category analysis or a related discipline
  • Previous responsibility for leading, coaching or developing analysts
  • The ability to interpret multiple data sources and find the story behind the numbers
  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder-management skills
  • Experience turning analysis into practical commercial action
  • Confidence working directly with senior clients and decision-makers
  • A good understanding of FMCG, retail, consumer brands or outsourced sales environments
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint capability
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar visualisation tools would be advantageous

This is a visible role with genuine influence. You will inherit an established function, but there is plenty of scope to shape its direction, improve how insight is communicated and develop the people within it. The business offers a salary of £55,000–£65,000, a car allowance and additional benefits. The position follows a hybrid model, with regular attendance at the Oxfordshire office.
