Surveyor Sector: Social Housing Maintenance & Refurbishment

Location: Romford

Rate: £400 - £425 per day CIS - Project QS / £450 - £500 per day CIS - Senior QS

O'Neill and Brennan are currently working with an established main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Project or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a long-term freelance basis, with the potential for the position to become permanent. The successful candidate will be working on social housing maintenance and refurbishment projects for local councils, taking commercial responsibility for a range of works and working closely with the wider commercial and project teams to ensure successful delivery. This is a long-term opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with relevant social housing maintenance and refurbishment experience, with the contractor able to offer competitive CIS rates depending on experience. The role will be based in Romford.

Responsibilities:

  • Taking commercial responsibility for social housing maintenance and refurbishment projects
  • Managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account
  • Preparing and reviewing valuations, variations and payment applications
  • Monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditure and maintaining accurate commercial reporting
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
  • Working closely with project managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors
  • Managing subcontractor accounts and ensuring costs are accurately recorded and controlled
  • Supporting the successful commercial delivery of works for local authority clients

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Project Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
  • Previous experience working on social housing maintenance and refurbishment projects is essential
  • Experience working on projects for local authorities / councils would be advantageous
  • Strong commercial awareness with good knowledge of subcontract management, valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage commercial responsibilities effectively
  • Available to work from / around Romford
