We are looking for a Remortgage Technical Trainer to play a key role in building and maintaining technical capability across our remortgage operation. This role is ideal for an experienced remortgage professional who enjoys sharing knowledge, developing others, and driving consistent technical standards. You will not have direct line management responsibility, but you will have significant influence across the department through training, coaching, and technical guidance.
The Role
- Deliver high-quality technical training to remortgage teams, supporting both new joiners and experienced colleagues.
- Design, develop, and continuously improve technical training materials aligned to business needs, lender requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert across remortgage work types, including:
- Company and corporate remortgages
- Staircasing transactions
- Islamic / Sharia-compliant mortgages
- Transfers of equity
- Leasehold and complex title matters
- Unregistered land
- Develop, implement, and maintain a departmental skills matrix, ensuring clear visibility of technical competence, development needs, and progression pathways.
- Use quality data, file reviews, and operational insight to identify skills gaps and training priorities.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Quality teams to ensure training supports regulatory compliance and best practice.
- Support remediation and targeted upskilling where technical trends or issues are identified.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation, lender criteria, and UK Finance Handbook requirements, ensuring these are reflected in training and guidance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency, and customer outcomes.
What we are looking for
- Strong technical experience in residential remortgage conveyancing.
- Proven capability handling complex remortgage matters, including company work, staircasing, and Islamic mortgages.
- Experience delivering training, coaching, or mentoring within a legal or conveyancing environment.
- Excellent understanding of lender requirements, regulatory obligations, and risk management.
- Confident communicator, able to translate complex technical information into clear, practical guidance.
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work on a hybrid basis across Stockport or Leeds.
