We are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager for a long-term freelance opportunity based in the Wolverhampton area, supporting the delivery of major construction projects within a Tier 1 main contractor environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established project team on a long-term basis, working across complex and high-value schemes from pre-construction through to project completion.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design process throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that design information is delivered on programme, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements. You will act as the key link between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and delivery teams, helping to drive design development and resolve technical challenges.

Applicants must have previous experience working as a Design Manager within the UK construction industry and Tier 1 main contractor experience is essential. You should possess a strong understanding of design management processes, be capable of managing multidisciplinary design teams, and have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience delivering complex construction projects from pre-construction through to completion is highly desirable.

The role will involve coordinating consultant and subcontractor design packages, managing design programmes, reviewing technical information, leading design meetings, managing design risks and change control processes, and ensuring the timely release of information to support project delivery.

This position offers the opportunity to join a well-established project team delivering significant construction projects within a structured Tier 1 environment. The role offers long-term contract security, hybrid working, and the chance to work on a varied portfolio of major projects.
