This leading Tier 1 contractor has a potentially long-term freelance opportunity for a minimum contract of 9 months for a Senior Design Manager, on a major new build project in Surrey.
For this Senior Design Manager role, you will be involved from the start of the project, based initially in the regional office of this Tier 1 contractor. When the project commences on site, you will move to being 4 days with the site team and 1 day working remotely or in the office.
The project is a new build student accommodation project of circa £80m value which is associated with another new education building which is well underway. You will oversee the Design Management for the student accommodation project and have assistance from a Design Manager and Document Controller. You will report to the Project Director and have regular progress meetings with the Regional Design Manager.
This position will support the current project team with all design tasks. Your initial task will be to work on CDP and identify key tasks to be carried out. You will be working in a live site environment, so you will need to quickly get to know the team and add support.
As a Tier 1 contractor, you will have worked for leading construction companies and be familiar with processes and procedures. You will have worked on busy projects where your organisational skills have been a key strength. You may also have worked with strong and experienced production teams and be capable of managing and challenging decisions whilst being skilled in communicating with different people.
A UK construction qualification is essential, and you should have at least 10 years in contracting Design Management and a minimum of 5 years in the role of Senior Design Manager. This role is ONLY open to individuals with the experience as above and who live within a commutable distance to the project in Surrey.
