O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a highly regarded residential developer who are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team, working on a large-scale residential development in Peckham, South London.
The successful candidate will take autonomous commercial responsibility for significant subcontractor packages across a major residential development, working closely with the wider project team to ensure the successful commercial delivery of the scheme.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working for a residential developer, ideally with exposure to large-scale RC Frame developments. However, the client is also open to considering Quantity Surveyors with strong residential/housing experience who can demonstrate the commercial capability required to manage significant packages on a major development.

Responsibilities:
- Taking autonomous commercial responsibility for significant subcontractor packages across a large-scale residential development
- Procuring and commercially managing subcontract packages from tender through to final account
- Preparing subcontract enquiries, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award
- Managing subcontractor payments, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditure and maintaining accurate commercial reporting
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate cost control measures
- Working closely with the project management, construction, design and development teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants and wider project stakeholders
- Taking ownership of commercial matters and ensuring packages are delivered within agreed budgets and timescales
- Supporting the wider commercial team and contributing to the continued growth and development of the business
- Working autonomously while maintaining close communication with senior management and the wider project team
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a residential developer, housebuilder or main contracting environment
- Previous experience working on large-scale RC Frame residential developments would be highly advantageous
- Candidates with strong residential/housing experience will also be considered
- Experience commercially managing significant subcontractor packages from procurement through to final account
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and take genuine ownership of commercial responsibilities
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple packages and competing priorities
- A stable career history with evidence of long-term tenure within previous roles
