Location: Northumberland
Salary: £65,000-£95,000 + Comprehensive Package

The Opportunity

A leading main contractor is seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major £500m+ infrastructure project in Northumberland. This flagship development combines significant heavy civil engineering, major infrastructure, structural works and new-build construction, making it one of the region's most high-profile projects. With a long delivery programme and a strong pipeline of future work, this is an excellent opportunity to join a financially secure contractor offering genuine long-term career progression. Candidates with experience across new build, refurbishment, fit-out or infrastructure are encouraged to apply, as the project requires a broad range of commercial expertise across multiple work packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of allocated work packages throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
  • Preparation of cost reports, forecasts and CVRs.
  • Valuations, variations and change management.
  • Contract administration and commercial governance.
  • Working closely with the project delivery team to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Managing client and subcontractor relationships.
  • Supporting the successful commercial delivery of a complex, multidisciplinary construction project.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • Experience working for a main contractor.
  • Strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills.
  • Proven experience managing subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account.
  • Experience on new-build, fit-out, refurbishment, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • NEC contract experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative project team on a large-scale, technically challenging development.
