Freelance Finishing Manager

Location: Brixton, South London

Rate: Competitive / DOE

Start: Monday 24th August 2026

The Opportunity

We are working with an established main contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Finishing Manager to join a modern student accommodation project in Brixton. The project comprises 50+ studio apartments, with the successful candidate responsible for overseeing the finishing stages of the development and ensuring the apartments and communal areas are completed to a high standard and in line with programme. This is a short-term opportunity for an experienced Finishing Manager who is available to start on Monday 24th August, with the potential to move onto another project following successful completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day finishing works across 50+ student accommodation studio apartments.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and trades to ensure works are completed to programme.
  • Oversee internal finishes, snagging, making good and final completion works.
  • Monitor quality and ensure works are completed to the required standards.
  • Coordinate multiple trades and manage sequencing to maintain progress.
  • Identify and resolve defects and outstanding works efficiently.
  • Carry out regular inspections and maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Work closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager to ensure programme milestones are achieved.
  • Coordinate and manage the snagging and handover process.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and outstanding works.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with relevant Health & Safety requirements.

About You

The successful candidate will have previous experience working as a Finishing Manager on student accommodation, hotel or similar projects, with a strong understanding of internal finishes and the final stages of construction.

You will have:

  • Proven experience managing finishing stages on construction projects.
  • Experience working on apartments, student accommodation or similar residential developments.
  • Strong knowledge of internal finishes and snagging.
  • Excellent subcontractor and trade management skills.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A keen eye for quality and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work to tight programmes and deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and project delivery.
