A well-established residential developer is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a major 500-unit residential development in North London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant QS to gain hands-on experience on a large-scale, multi-phase residential scheme, working closely with experienced Senior and Project Quantity Surveyors. The role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, from pre-construction and procurement through to delivery and final account, within a supportive and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the procurement and management of subcontract packages
- Supporting the commercial team with post-contract duties
- Assisting with valuations, variations, and change control
- Preparing cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow information
- Monitoring subcontractor performance and payments
- Supporting the management of commercial risk and opportunity
- Assisting with final accounts and project close-out
- Working closely with site and project teams to support commercial performance
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee QS
- Experience on residential construction projects preferred
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline (or working towards)
- Strong numerical, organisational, and communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and progress within a residential developer environment
- Ability to work well as part of a team and take direction from senior staff
