O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a leading main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team, working on a high-quality new build residential development in St Albans.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work, delivering high-quality residential schemes across the Home Counties and London. You will play a key role in the commercial delivery of the project, taking responsibility for either the procurement and commercial management of high-value subcontract packages or managing your own smaller project, depending on your level of experience.

You will be joining an experienced and supportive commercial team with excellent opportunities for long-term progression within a growing and successful main contractor.

Role Overview
  • Project: New Build Residential Development
  • Location: St Albans
  • Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 + Package
  • Start: ASAP but can wait for the right person
  • Type: Permanent
Responsibilities:
  • Procuring and commercially managing high-value subcontract packages from procurement through to final account
  • Preparing subcontract enquiries, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award
  • Managing subcontractor payments, valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Assisting with cost reporting, CVRs, forecasting and monthly commercial reporting
  • Working closely with site management, design and procurement teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities whilst maintaining strong cost control throughout the project lifecycle
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain
Requirements
  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
  • Previous experience delivering new build residential projects
  • Proven experience procuring and managing high-value subcontract packages, or experience commercially managing your own smaller projects
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Able and willing to commute to St Albans
