A top Regional Main Contractor is looking to appoint a Building Services Manager to take responsibility for ensuring efficiency, quality and affordability across the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical and public health systems, essential to the success of a project.
Managing the efforts of the subcontractors, you’ll ensure all works are fully coordinated and delivered in accordance with the contract programme and be able to demonstrate a previous proven track record of managing project risks, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to mitigate those risks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing installation plans and specifications to ensure that they deliver what the building/client needs.
- Advising the design team on the co-ordination of services within the overall building design.
- Close out design assumptions, design opportunities (VE), design risks (HSE/CDM) made during the early stages of the design and or tender process.
- Manage the submission and timely approval of all reviewable design data.
- Assist in the commercial and technical review of specialist subcontract tender returns, establish interfaces and review alternative design.
- Prepare technical submissions for alternative designs, system, component, product and or material proposals for client approval.
- Testing and checking installations.
- Making sure jobs meet building regulations and health and safety requirements.
- Attending meetings and presenting ideas and progress reports to managers and clients.
- Advising clients on how the building services will operate once the building is complete.
- Helping to protect the environment by keeping energy wastage to a minimum within the building services.
- Provide technical support to the onsite construction activities in order to maintain quality benchmarks.
- Assist the Design Manager in the discharge of the Design Manager's specific tasks and responsibilities.
The person:
- Qualified in mechanical and/or electrical disciplines.
- Previous experience as a building services manager with a full understanding of detailed M&E procedures and good level of technical and professional expertise.
- Ability to understand and review M&E designs, installation, and commissioning programme.
- Experience of working on construction schemes between £10 and £30 million as part of larger delivery teams.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to influence an audience.
- Proven building services management skills.
- A good team player and communicator who can work with all levels of the organisation.
