Our client is a long-established, independent regional contractor with an outstanding reputation across the South West for delivering high-quality industrial and commercial projects. With over 75 years of trading, a robust forward order book, and a strong emphasis on quality, safety and sustainability, they continue to grow steadily and profitably.
They now wish to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their established team, running individual industrial new-build and refurbishment schemes typically valued between £1m and £12m.
The Role
Reporting to a Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of one or sometimes two live projects at any one time, ensuring delivery on programme, to budget and to the highest standards of health & safety and quality. You will lead site-based teams, manage subcontractors, drive the programme, handle client liaison and oversee commercial aspects through to final account.
About You
- Proven track record as a Project Manager (or very strong Senior Site Manager ready for promotion) with a main or reputable regional contractor
- Demonstrable experience successfully delivering industrial or commercial projects valued £1m – £12m
- Strong commercial awareness – able to manage costs, variations and final accounts
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with a visible, hands-on site presence
- Relevant qualifications (HNC/Degree, SMSTS, CSCS Black Card, First Aid etc.)
- Stable career history and references to support your track record
Location
Due to the location of current and forthcoming projects, candidates must live in or very close to Exeter (maximum 30-minute commute). Applications from further afield cannot be considered for this particular appointment.
