Due to continued growth, this respected, growing contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious QS looking to play a key role within a respected contractor, working on prestigious residential projects and becoming an integral part of a supportive and forward-thinking business.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the commercial management of construction projects, from pre-construction through to final account agreement.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial aspects of multiple high-end residential projects
- Preparing, submitting and negotiating interim valuations with client representatives
- Managing variations, including identification, valuation and agreement with clients and consultants
- Procuring and managing subcontract packages
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with the supply chain
- Assessing and agreeing subcontractor valuations and variations
- Preparing and negotiating subcontractor final accounts
- Preparing and agreeing client final accounts
- Monitoring project costs and reporting on commercial performance
- Supporting project teams with contractual and commercial advice
- Administering contracts, predominantly under the JCT Intermediate Form of Contract
- Assisting with cash flow forecasting and cost planning
- Contributing to monthly commercial reporting processes
- Providing support with the estimating and tendering of new projects, where appropriate
About the Candidate
We are looking for someone who is commercially astute, organised and proactive, with the ability to work collaboratively across both internal and external teams. The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
- Strong knowledge of contract administration, particularly JCT Intermediate Contracts
- Experience managing valuations, variations and final accounts
- Confidence in dealing directly with clients, consultants and subcontractors
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Relevant construction qualifications (HNC/HND, degree or equivalent) desirable
