Freelance Site Manager – Holiday Cover Location: Bridgwater, Somerset Contract: Freelance Duration: 1 week Start Date: Monday 7th September 2026 We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to provide holiday cover on an established residential development near Bridgwater, Somerset, for one week commencing Monday 7th September. We're looking for an experienced housebuilding Site Manager who can quickly take ownership of an active site, maintain progress and standards, and provide effective leadership whilst the permanent Site Manager is away on leave. Key Responsibilities Take day-to-day responsibility for the site during the holiday cover period. Manage subcontractors and site personnel to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard. Monitor programme, build progress and workmanship across the development. Carry out regular site inspections and ensure quality standards are maintained. Ensure all health, safety and environmental requirements are adhered to. Coordinate trades and resolve any issues that may affect programme or quality. Liaise with the wider site team, subcontractors and management. Maintain accurate site records and complete relevant documentation. Ensure the site remains organised, clean and compliant throughout the period of cover. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have: Proven experience as a Site Manager within residential housebuilding. Strong knowledge of construction processes, sequencing and health & safety. Experience managing subcontractors and multiple trades. A proactive and organised approach, with the confidence to take responsibility for an established site. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. SMSTS, 1st Aid and CSCS qualifications. The Opportunity This is a short-term freelance assignment for one week, making it particularly suitable for an experienced Site Manager looking for additional work or a short contract between longer assignments.
