Assistant Site Manager – Freelance Location: Oxfordshire Start Date: Thursday 8th October 2026 Duration: Until Friday 30th October 2026 Type: Freelance / Temporary The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Site Manager to join a prestigious new-build housing development for a well-established, quality-focused residential developer. This is a short-term freelance opportunity running from Thursday 8th October until Friday 30th October, with the successful candidate concentrating primarily on plot snagging and preparing homes for CML stage. The role would suit an Assistant Site Manager or experienced Site Manager with a strong background in new-build housing who is confident identifying defects, co-ordinating remedial works and ensuring plots are brought up to the required standard for inspection and handover. Key Responsibilities Carry out detailed inspections of completed and near-completed plots. Identify and record outstanding snagging and finishing issues. Coordinate trades and subcontractors to ensure defects are rectified promptly. Re-inspect plots following remedial works to confirm issues have been satisfactorily resolved. Ensure homes are presented to a consistently high construction and finishing standard. Work closely with the Site Manager to prioritise plots approaching CML stage. Monitor progress against short-term completion and handover targets. Assist with quality control across the development. Maintain accurate records of outstanding works and completed snags. Ensure health, safety and site procedures are maintained at all times. Liaise effectively with trades, subcontractors and the wider site team. Help ensure plots are ready for inspection within the required programme. About You The successful candidate will ideally have: Previous experience as an Assistant Site Manager or Site Manager on new-build housing developments. Strong knowledge of residential construction and finishing standards. Proven experience undertaking plot inspections and snagging. A keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to identifying defects. The confidence to manage trades and drive outstanding works through to completion. Good knowledge of health and safety requirements on residential construction sites. Excellent communication and organisational skills. A proactive approach, with the ability to work to tight deadlines. Relevant CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid qualifications would be advantageous.
