Site Engineer – Major Construction Project Bath, Somerset | Temporary to Permanent | Tier 1 / Tier 2 Main Contracting O'Neill & Brennan are recruiting for experienced Site Engineers to join the delivery team on a large, flagship construction scheme in Bath. We are looking to appoint technically capable, proactive engineers with strong Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contracting backgrounds who can demonstrate meaningful involvement in the successful delivery of substantial construction projects. This opportunity will initially be offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to establish themselves within the project team before transitioning into a long-term, permanent position. The role would suit an engineer who takes genuine ownership of their work, maintains high technical standards and is comfortable operating within the demands of a major construction project. The Role Working alongside the wider construction and engineering teams, you will play an integral role in ensuring works are delivered accurately, safely and in accordance with the project specifications, drawings and construction programme. Key responsibilities will include: Undertaking setting out and surveying duties across designated areas and construction packages. Ensuring works are completed accurately and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and engineering requirements. Coordinating with Site Managers, subcontractors and the wider project team to maintain construction progress. Reviewing technical drawings, identifying discrepancies and assisting with the resolution of engineering queries. Managing quality assurance documentation, inspection records and associated technical reporting. Supporting the preparation and implementation of RAMS and ensuring engineering activities comply with site health & safety requirements. Monitoring subcontractor works to ensure compliance with design specifications and required tolerances. Maintaining accurate site records, as-built information and survey data. Proactively identifying potential technical or programme-related issues and assisting with their resolution. Candidate Requirements We are particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have developed their careers within established main contracting environments and can demonstrate experience working on complex, large-scale construction schemes. To be considered, applicants should demonstrate: Proven Site Engineering experience with a recognised Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor. Previous involvement in construction projects valued at £20 million or above. Strong setting out and surveying capabilities, including proficiency with relevant engineering equipment. Excellent understanding of construction drawings, specifications, tolerances and quality assurance procedures. Experience coordinating engineering activities with site management teams and specialist subcontractors. Strong technical problem-solving abilities and excellent attention to detail. A proactive, organised and dependable approach to site engineering. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a wider project delivery team. A consistent employment history supported by strong, verifiable professional references. Essential Requirements: Valid CSCS Card (appropriate to the position). Relevant construction or civil engineering qualification, or demonstrable equivalent industry experience. Competence using modern setting out and surveying equipment. First Aid at Work. SMSTS. Previous Project Experience & References Given the scale and profile of this development, candidates must be able to demonstrate meaningful engineering involvement in projects exceeding £20 million in value. Strong professional references will be required to substantiate previous responsibilities, technical ability, dedication and reliability.
