A leading and highly reputable main contractor is about to commence a prestigious £90 million construction scheme in South Wales, creating an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to join the project from the outset. This is a rare chance to take ownership of the design process on a flagship development, working alongside a highly experienced project team and ensuring successful coordination from pre-construction through to completion.
The Role
- As Design Manager, you'll lead and coordinate the design process, ensuring information is produced, reviewed and issued in line with programme requirements.
- You'll work closely with consultants, subcontractors, clients and the operational team to deliver practical, buildable and commercially effective design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the design process throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate consultant and subcontractor design information.
- Ensure design deliverables meet programme requirements.
- Chair design team meetings and manage design workshops.
- Identify and resolve design and technical issues proactively.
- Collaborate with site, commercial and planning teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Drive value engineering and buildability throughout the project.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Design Manager with a main contractor.
- Proven track record delivering large construction projects (£50m+ desirable).
- Strong technical understanding of construction methodologies.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Experience managing consultant teams and design programmes.
- Relevant construction qualification.
